    Wednesday, January 28
    2:00 - 6:45 pm
    Rutherford Library
Brought to you by the Global Education Program, Human Resource Services (Employment Equity) & University of Alberta Libraries.

International Week is hosting its first-ever Human Library, an international story-telling phenomen on that has been held in countries around the world.

A Human Library is a safe space where visitors—known as ‘readers’—can speak one-on-one or in very small groups to ‘people on loan’ or human ‘books’. The human ‘books’ are individuals from various demographics who have chosen to speak openly about life experiences where they were mischaracterized or misunderstood, or where they faced stereotyping or prejudice.

    • Sessions with each human ‘book’ will run 45 minutes, on the hour.
    • Each human ‘book’ will meet with a maximum of 3 people per session.
    • ‘Readers’ (visitors) are encouraged to reserve a time with a ‘book’ in advance.
    • One drop-in session per book will also be available for ‘readers’ unable to register in advance.
